Biography Project

Happy Rainy Friday! I can't believe Spring Break has arrived. I know many of you are off to exciting places and I can't wait to hear all about it. Before I go and do some relaxing of my own I wanted to give you the specifics for the biography project! There are 2 parts:

1. Written part: Some of the kids chose to bring home the written part today. The rest of the students will receive it on the Monday we return. The written part is due Monday, March 29th. The written project focuses on what the person accomplished that was beneficial to mankind. The picture should be colored and indicative of what made this person famous. It is a final draft and should be done neatly and in complete sentences. Please encourage your child to write it and edit it on another sheet of paper before working on the final piece.
2. Oral Presentation: The student's have picked their days to present. I posted them this week on the blog. For the presentation, your child may dress up like their famous person, they may make visuals, and they may have props. Please encourage your child to use their graphic organizer to help them plan their presentation. It is very important that if your child is going to make note cards, that they choose and write what is written on them. This makes it authentic to them and it is easier for them to present when it is in their own words.

Here are my expectations for the presentation:
  • Does the student speak clearly?
  • Does the student know the information?
  • Does the student present a wide range of information?
  • Does the student listen attentively to others and answer questions well?

I hope you are as excited as I am!! I am so proud of their enthusiasm and hard work thus far.
