This week at a glance:
Language Arts: Our mentor text this week is The Relatives Came by Cynthia Rylant. This is a great story that will help us continue to work on making connections. This week we are talking about making Text-to-Self Connections. We are also continuing to review what good readers do! On Mondays, the students get to work with their reading partners. Today before they started to work, they made goals as partners. Check out this picture:

Phonics: ar (bossy r)
Grammar: Proper Nouns
Math: "What's My Rule?" Routines, Counting Strategies for Subtraction, Shortcuts for "Harder" Subtraction Facts, and review. We will be having our 2nd Math Assessment next week! Please continue to work on addition and subtraction facts. Your child should be able to recall these quickly without the use of fingers or other tools.
Social Studies: We are making postcards this week about our North American Landmarks!
Writing Workshop: This week we begin editing and publishing a story! We look forward to sharing them soon.
**We have no school on Friday, so the students' spelling and vocabulary assessment will be on Thursday.
