Week of December 5th

Happy December! Can you believe it? We are continuing to work hard and have a blast here in 2nd grade. This week we are continuing to do great work. Here is what is going on:

Science: Making/Investigating Salt Crystals
Math: Estimating Costs, A Shopping Activity, and Explorations
Language Arts: Good Readers Fall in Love with Books, pronouns, phonics/r-controlled vowels - ir, ur, er, ear
Social Studies: Winter Holidays and Traditions Around the World - the kids will be working on research this week. Stay tuned for more details!

Tomorrow we are going on our first field trip to First Fruits Hydroponic Farm. Check out last weeks post for more information. You are welcome to meet us there. Our appointment is at 9:00.

The Gift Drive ends on Friday. Please start sending in your gifts or make sure to have them here on Friday. What a blessing for this family! We will be taking them over to the Athletic Center on Friday morning.

We will be having an International Festival instead of a Holiday party next Thursday afternoon. If you are interested in helping or being a part of this, please contact one of the following mothers:

Zeina Kropf - zkropf@tampabay.rr.com

Chris Chen - Kuai_zi@hotmail.com

This week we get to see a play in the theatre as well as a performance by the Chorus! Our kids get such rich and wonderful opportunities here at Shorecrest!

I will be submitting the Book Orders tomorrow morning. Please sign on and order if you have not. Books make great gifts!

Please remember to sign your child's homework sheet if they are doing their nightly reading. 20 minutes of reading a night is the 2nd grade expectation. Please also have them fill out their Reading Log. This is an important skill. I am keeping track this semester! Thank you!

Mark your Calendars: Our class will be presenting at Town Hall next Monday, December 12th. Please join us at the Flag Pole. Have a wonderful week!
