Week of February 11

Happy Tuesday! I apologize for the late post. I was at a conference yesterday in Orlando. Teachers love to learn as well. It was a wonderful opportunity that gave me great ideas to bring back to my students!

This week is a short week as the students do not have school on Friday (or Monday). As I am sure you have noticed, the students will not have spelling or vocabulary words this week. We are working very hard on completing our Australia Projects.  We would like to share these projects with you next Wednesday, February 20th, at 2:15 in the afternoon. The students will not be standing up to present. Our room will be set up like a museum where you will have the opportunity to move around and see each of the students' projects. 

Your child will be bringing home their most recent math assessment this week for you to look over, sign, and return. We will be starting a new unit soon on Whole-Number Operations and Number Stories.

The students pollinated their plants last week using real (dead) bees. Many of the plants are forming seed pods. They are really understand the cycle of the plant.

Please remember that Thursday is Valentine's Day. We will not be having a formal Valentine's Day party. Please have your child make valentines and send them in by Thursday. Thank you!

Here are some upcoming dates:

• Tuesday, February 26th - Class Pictures - Students need to wear regular uniforms this day. Please access order forms by clicking on the link https://www.shorecrest.org/?page=ParentsPage or you can go to Shorecrest.org> Community > Parents Page. If you can use excel, use the first form and print - it will do the math for you! If you are not comfortable with excel, then you can use the second form - just open the file, print, and fill it out. • Thursday, February 28th - Relay for Life Cookout - order forms came home today. Please plan to have lunch with your child this day if you can. All proceeds will be donated to Relay for Life. Sage will not be serving lunch on this day.
• March 7th is Field Day
• Reading Week is the week of March 18-22. The Oldie Goldie Book Sale is on Friday, March 22. The entire week will be dedicated to Mrs. Weinman. We will also have a dedication ceremony on March 25th at 8:05 around the new playground.
