Week of March 18

Welcome back! I love getting to hear about everyone's Spring Break adventures. What fun! Thank you so much for remembering to have your kiddo dressed up as their favorite storybook character. I loved their costumes and creativity. This is such a fun week! Tomorrow we will be going out as a school community in the morning to Drop Everything And Read. Please have your child bring a towel to sit on. They do not need a large blanket. Oldie Goldie is this FRIDAY! Please send in any old books that you would like to donate to this fun activity. Please also make sure to send your child with some change on Friday so that they can buy some new books.

This morning in Technology the students continued their work with latitude and longitude. They had to use coordinates and a map to complete a scavenger hunt. They did an amazing job!  You will see that their vocabulary words support this work this week.

We are starting to edit our All About books. We will begin working on our final drafts this week! The kids have been doing an outstanding job and really enjoy writing about what they know.

We will also be starting research on our biography projects this week! The kids have chosen who they would like to research and are eager to get started. Here are the Essential Questions that will guide their research:
  1. Where/when was your person born?
  2. What has this person done that has affected others?
  3. Who or what influenced them?
  4. What kind of education did they receive?
  5. What are some of their major accomplishments?

In Math, we will be talking about arrays, division, multiples of equal groups and multiplication-array number stories.

I hope you have a wonderful week. Please continue to sign of on your child's homework sheet that they read at least 20 minutes a night.
