Week of October 5th

Here is what is going on this week!

Language Arts

Phonics: Long vowel /a/ ai, ay

Spelling and Challenge Words: pay, mail, paint, day, rain, stay, sail, way, train, tray, mailbox, highway, daytime, raindrop, crayon

High-Frequency Words: coming, curve, idea, knee, laughed, million, world

Comprehension Focus: Making predictions and using prior knowledge

Robust Vocabulary and Student-Friendly Explanations:

rickety - If something is rickety, it is old and shaky.

rattling - If something is rattling, it is making short knocking sounds.

prying - If you are prying something, you are opening it with a crowbar or other tool.

impatiently - If you are waiting for the bus impatiently, you are upset that you have to wait.

romp - When you romp, you move around playfully.

defeated - If you feel like you have lost, you feel defeated.

jubilant - When you feel joyful and happy, you are jubilant.

master - If you master something, you learn how to do it well.

* The students will have assessments at the end of the week covering the spelling/challenge, robust, and high-frequency words. Please practice these daily with your kids!
