Thank you as well for reading the blog. It is a very important communication tool that will be used all year long! Please also make sure to subscribe to Dr. Bianco's blog.
I will be sending out the emails for the Shutterfly picture site hopefully by the end of the week!
Please hop online and look at the Scholastic Book Ordering. I set the due date kind of late (September 28th) in hopes it would give you some time to try it out. In the upcoming months, it will not be as long of a wait.
A note on the spelling words:
Please remember that everyone in the class will have 10 of the same spelling words. Then each child will have their own set of "blue" words that I write on the back of their homework paper. These are the 15 words they are to study for Friday's assessment. If they miss some words on Friday's assessment they will have the opportunity to try those words again on Monday. If they still miss the words, they will be added to the following week's list. Today they typed their spelling words themselves on the computer. This paper will come home with their homework sheet today. They are to cut the words out tonight and use them to as an aide when putting the words in ABC order. They are to then write the words in ABC order in their spiral notebook (in their Homework binder). They do not need to bring the cut out words back. Tomorrow night they will need to write all 15 words in sentences (making sure to underline or highlight each spelling word). If you would like to get a head start on this tonight, that is fine. Please encourage your child to write their sentences on their own. It is important to remind them that all sentences begin with a capital letter and end with a punctuation mark with spaces between each word.
The sentences need to be numbered as well as neat!
spellingcity.com is a great site to use to help your child practice their spelling words! I have already entered our words for this week on the site. The only words missing with be your child's blue words. Parents can register for free. Take some time to explore the site and see how it can be used with your family.
