I had such a great time chatting with you guys about your amazing children at conferences! I count it a blessing, a joy, and a privilege to be a part of their lives every day. I am so excited about all of the things we are doing in class and I hope you were able to see that excitement. I have been hearing about how you have been using the Reader's Toolkits at home. Keep up the good work!

This week at a glance:

Language Arts: Our mentor text this week is The Great Kapok Tree. We are continuing to talk about the great work we do as readers. We talked today about how good readers retell the story they are reading across their fingers to help them remember what they are reading. We will also be talking about how to make connections with our stories in greater detail this week.

Math:
  • Subtraction from Addition
  • Fact Families
  • Exploring Weights, Scales, and Equal Groups

Social Studies: We have finished our postcards and look forward to sharing them with you soon!

Writing Workshop: Our stories are in the final stage of publication and we look forward to sharing them next week, hopefully!

**We have no school on Friday, so the students' spelling and vocabulary assessment will be on Thursday.

Upcoming Events and Information:
  • Picture Re-take Day: Picture Re-Take Day will take place on October 23rd. Students must return their photo package to have a re-take. Students who were absent on Picture Day need to have their picture taken.
