Week of January 22

Happy Tuesday! I hope you had a wonderful 3 day weekend and took some time to reflect on the importance of why we received the day off yesterday. I know we had a great time last week when we talked about Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Here is our week in bullets :).

• There will be no spelling words this week. We will be reviewing words/skills in class. 
• Friday is Grandparents/Special Friends Day. The students will be performing for them in the theater. We are asking that the girls wear either the green dress or green shirt and pants/skirt/skorts and the boys wear green shirts and pants. No spirit wear. If the girls wear a skirt/skorts and wear tights, the tights must follow uniform policy. Thank you!
• Friday is a noon dismissal. Please make sure the office knows how your child is getting home. A form came home last week.
• Ident-A-Kid is tomorrow
• We are starting research on our Australia Project this week
• We planted our seeds for our Plant Unit last week! The kids are so very excited to watch and learn during this unit.
• Please continue to read with your child daily as well as review their spelling words. When your child writes, please make sure they are using correct capitalization and punctuation.
• Conference Day is February 7th. You should have received an email from me regarding your time. If you are unsure, please email me. There will be no school for students on this day.
• Please see the below letter regarding and upcoming Lunch and Learn put on by The Learning Center.

Do you feel like your child arrives to school each day “excited and ready to learn?”  Do you wonder what you could be doing to help make your child’s learning experience at Shorecrest even better? Eric Graffeo, will explore different avenues that allow parents to make a real difference in how their child approaches their educational experience.

Eric Graffeo, occupational therapist and owner of I.T.S. For Kids, has been a part of the Shorecrest community for the past six years and has inspired countless students across grade levels.  His talk will center on promoting development of key foundational skills for learning.  Eric will also give parents ideas on how to support your child’s learning readiness at home and at school.
