bewildered - When you are bewildered, you are confused and unable to understand something.
evasive - When someone tries to avoid answering a question, that person is being evasive.

mull - When you think through possible solutions to a problem, or the answer to a question, you mull over the information.
startle -
If someone comes up quietly behind you and surprises you, the person may startle you.
distrust -
When someone is not honest with you, you might distrust that person.
