Week of February 25th

Thank you so much for coming to view the students' Australia projects last week. They were so excited to share them with you. They loved your encouraging comments and were excited to look for the answers to your questions. This project was a great way for the students to learn many different skills. I am so proud of their hard work and efforts. We will be keeping the projects here for a bit and then they will come home.

Week at a Glance:

Language Arts:
This week we are starting our Nonfiction Writing unit with "All About Books". This ties in nicely with our projects as well as our upcoming unit on reading nonfiction texts. Our spelling words this week are contractions. The students are having a blast working with these words.

Math:

• Comparison Number Stories
• Data
• Mixed Addition and Subtraction Stories

In Technology today, the students got to go geocaching. To say they had fun was an understatement. This activity is the beginning of a mini research project we will be doing with Mrs. Baralt.

Upcoming Dates/ Important Events:

• Tomorrow, Tuesday, February 26th - Class Pictures - Students need to wear regular uniforms this day. Please access order forms by clicking on the link https://www.shorecrest.org/?page=ParentsPage or you can go to Shorecrest.org> Community > Parents Page. If you can use excel, use the first form and print - it will do the math for you! If you are not comfortable with excel, then you can use the second form - just open the file, print, and fill it out. • Thursday, February 28th - Relay for Life Cookout - please send in your order forms. Please plan to have lunch with your child this day if you can. All proceeds will be donated to Relay for Life. Sage will not be serving lunch on this day.
• March 7th is Field Day
• Reading Week is the week of March 18-22. The Oldie Goldie Book Sale is on Friday, March 22. The entire week will be dedicated to Mrs. Weinman. We will also have a dedication ceremony on March 25th at 8:05 around the new playground.
